Dear friend,
We are pleased to announce that our Gala Dinner - celebrating Chabad’s ninth anniversary in the Southern Somerset County area - will take place on Tuesday evening, December 13th, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Somerset Hotel in Somerset, NJ (formerly the Somerset Marriott).
At the banquet we will pay special tribute to:
1) Honoree Theodore E. Gast
2) Honorees Jacob & Mary Pleeter
This is a very important event for our Chabad Center. I’m sure you’re aware that we are somewhat unique when it comes to funding programs. We don’t charge a synagogue membership fee, assess a building fund commitment or sell High Holiday seats. We survive and thrive on the basis of free-will giving. We are indeed fortunate to have been blessed with many individuals and families who, on their own and without solicitations, have come forward to help fund our wonderful programs. The operations budget is covered by such generous contributions.
It is indeed a testament to our community that we do all that we do without formal financial income. With G-d’s help, we can continue to function as we have in the past. However, in order to grow and serve the increasing needs of our community, we must have an annual event to bring in the necessary funds.
A committee was formed to reconcile the competing values, to balance this sensitivity in charging for services with the desire to keep pace with the community’s growing needs. The committee decided to orchestrate a Founders’ Dinner as a way of thanking those who have helped this institution over the years, and also as a means of raising the needed funds. As part of our Dinner effort we also publish a Dinner Journal commemorating this special evening. This Journal has various greeting and advertising opportunities, to help support Chabad.
We invite you to become a partner. the Chabad Center for Jewish Life is independently supported through contributions from the community. Your assistance will help us reach out to a larger segment of the community. Every cent of your contribution is directly impacting the entire Jewish Community.
We’ve accomplished so much towards changing the area’s spiritual character - by working together. We’ve gone so far toward increasing Jewish pride, knowledge and observance - by working together. Let’s provide ourselves with the wherewithal to grow yet further - by working together.
Sincerely yours,
Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky
